Photos from the Appalachian Trail

This Flickr-mashup map was featured online and on a touchscreen kiosk as part of an exhibition about Earl Shaffer, the first person to walk the entire Appalachian Trail in one continuous hike. Have you ever hiked part of the Appalachian Trail? Did you use a diary to record your progress? Take photographs of what you saw? Write poetry about your experience? More than 300 geo-tagged photographs and descriptions were contributed by 80 people responding to the museum’s questions about the trail.
